Surveying work often depends on the smaller items that support the main instrument in the field. Celtic Surveys supplies surveying accessories for setting out, levelling, total station work, site measurement and field recording, with equipment for surveyors, engineers, contractors and construction teams.

The range includes tripods, levelling staffs, prisms, prism poles, tribrachs, traverse sets, ranging rods, reflective targets, optical squares and survey books. These accessories can be used alongside total stations, levels and other surveying equipment, depending on the instrument and the work being carried out.

Surveying Accessories & Setting Out Equipment

Choosing surveying accessories starts with the equipment already being used and the job taking place on site. A tripod may be needed to support an instrument, while a prism and prism pole form part of a total station measurement setup. Levelling work requires a suitable staff, while ranging rods, optical squares and reflective targets support different setting-out and alignment tasks.

Compatibility is important, particularly with threaded connections, prism systems, tribrachs and instrument mounts. Checking the instrument, required working height and field conditions before ordering helps narrow down the correct accessory.

Tripods and Levelling Staffs

A stable support is essential when using many surveying instruments. Our Tripods range includes aluminium, wooden and elevating options for different instruments and site requirements.

The right tripod depends on the equipment being mounted, working height and type of ground. Survey teams moving frequently between points may prefer a lighter setup, while other jobs may call for a heavier support.

For levelling work, Levelling Staffs provide a graduated reference used with automatic, digital and other suitable levels. Different lengths and constructions are available depending on the type of site work being carried out.

Prisms, Prism Poles and Tribrachs

Total station work relies on several accessories working together around the instrument and measured point.

Our Prisms range includes standard and mini prism arrangements for suitable surveying applications. Prism type, offset and mounting arrangement should be checked against the instrument and measurement setup.

Prism Poles provide an adjustable support for positioning a prism over the required point. The range includes different lengths and locking arrangements for field use.

For mounting and centring equipment, Tribrachs & Prism Carriers include tribrachs, optical plummets and prism adapters for compatible survey instruments and targets.

Survey teams using a complete centring setup can also browse our 1/2 Traverse Sets.

Ranging Rods and Optical Squares for Setting Out

Ranging Rods provide a clearly visible reference for lining up points, marking positions and other site setting-out work. Different materials and lengths are available for general construction and surveying use.

For setting out right angles, Optical Squares provide a simple field instrument for establishing perpendicular lines between points.

These tools are useful for straightforward site setting out where a clear visual reference is needed without using a larger electronic instrument for every task.

Reflective Targets for Survey Measurement

Reflective Target Sheets provide a fixed visible target for suitable surveying instruments.

They can be useful where measurements need to be taken repeatedly to a defined position or where a permanent prism setup is not required.

The range also includes other target and prism arrangements for different total station and monitoring applications, so the required target type should be matched to the instrument and distance involved.

Survey Books for Field Records

Survey measurements still need to be recorded clearly when information is being noted manually on site.

Our Survey Books include field books for levelling, rise-and-fall records and other surveying notes.

Purpose-made survey books help keep field observations organised and provide a consistent place to record measurements, point references and site notes during survey work.

Choosing the Right Surveying Accessories

Before ordering, check how the accessory will be used with the rest of the survey equipment.

For instrument supports and mounts, consider thread size, head type, working height and compatibility. For prisms and targets, check the required offset and measurement setup. Levelling staffs and ranging rods should be selected around the required length and field conditions.

It is also worth considering portability. Surveying accessories are regularly moved between points and sites, so weight, carrying cases, locking systems and adjustment ranges may all influence which option is most practical.
