Why Use a Wöhler Inspection Camera?

These systems support internal checks where direct sight is restricted. Accessible surfaces can be reviewed for visible deposits, obstructions, joints, bends and changes in condition. A live display lets the route be followed as the head advances and shows when the view needs to be repositioned. The resulting view also supports comparisons before and after suitable cleaning or maintenance.

Where supported, saved images or video provide an inspection record for comparison. They do not verify an interpretation or show anything beyond the captured view. Lighting, lens cleanliness, water, condensation, deposits, camera position and head movement affect image quality.

Other uses include ventilation ducts, false ceilings, cavities, shafts and accessible sections of machinery or building services. The camera may show deposits, displaced joints, surface changes or obstructions, but it cannot clear the route or reveal conditions beyond the lens.

Visible-light inspection does not measure wall thickness, watertightness or structural strength. Thermal imaging, pressure, leakage and material-thickness testing provide different results.

How Do Camera Heads, Push Rods and Cables Affect Inspection?

Head size determines access through the opening and route. Smaller fixed heads may suit restricted spaces, while larger or articulated heads offer more viewing control where space permits. Lighting, lens condition and image orientation affect the monitor view.

A push rod provides controlled forward movement through compatible pipes, drains and ducts. Its diameter, stiffness and length affect handling over distance and through bends. A camera cable may suit lowering or guiding a head through accessible flues, shafts or other routes. The arrangement must remain manageable without relying on excessive force around a change in direction.

Directional or pan-and-tilt movement adjusts the view around suitable internal surfaces. Fixed, articulated and interchangeable arrangements suit different openings and routes, and each function applies only where supported.

How Do You Choose the Right Wöhler Inspection Camera?

Start with the opening, internal dimensions, distance and bends. Compare these conditions with the head diameter and push-rod or cable construction.

Then consider head control, lighting and image orientation. Monitor arrangement, recording, file storage, battery, environmental protection, cleaning and transport also affect field use. If an inspection record is required, confirm the available still-image, video, storage and file-transfer functions rather than assuming they are standard.

Pan-and-tilt movement, distance indication, wireless display and interchangeable heads apply only where stated. A distance counter indicates the rod or cable fed through the route, not the head’s precise position.

A locator receives a signal only from a compatible camera head with an active transmitter. It supports surface location but does not produce an image, create a survey map or assure exact depth. Confirm compatibility between the camera head, push rod or cable, display and locator.
