Laser levels provide horizontal, vertical or graded reference lines for construction, surveying, groundworks and interior installation. They are used to establish consistent levels and alignment across a work area, helping with tasks such as foundations, drainage, concrete work, ceiling installation, partitioning and general site layout.

Celtic Surveys supplies professional laser levels for a wide range of applications, including rotary lasers, grade lasers, pipe lasers and cross-line systems. The range also includes compatible receivers, machine receivers, mounting equipment, batteries, chargers and other accessories for different site requirements.

Laser Levels for Construction, Surveying and Site Work

The right laser level depends mainly on where it will be used and the type of reference required. Large outdoor construction sites may need a rotating laser with a receiver, while interior fitting work can often be carried out with a compact line or dot laser.

For groundworks, foundations and general outdoor levelling, Rotary Laser Levels provide a rotating reference across a larger working area. They are commonly used where levels need to be transferred between different points on a site.

Where the work involves controlled slopes or elevations, Grade Laser Levels provide additional functions for grading and civil engineering applications.

Rotary and Grade Laser Levels

Rotary lasers are suited to work where a level reference needs to cover a wider area. Depending on the model, they may provide horizontal, vertical or dual-axis operation and can be paired with a receiver for outdoor use.

Grade lasers are designed for projects where slope control is required as well as standard levelling. They can be used for tasks such as excavation, drainage, earthworks and other projects where a set grade needs to be maintained over distance.

The required working range, grade capability, receiver compatibility and site conditions should all be considered before choosing between different models.

Pipe Lasers for Drainage and Underground Work

Pipe Lasers are designed specifically for line and grade work in drainage, sewer and underground pipe installation.

Their compact format allows them to be positioned in trenches or suitable pipework while providing a clear reference for alignment and fall. This makes them particularly useful where consistent line and slope are required across longer runs.

When comparing pipe lasers, factors such as working range, grade range, beam visibility, setup method and available remote-control functions may be relevant depending on the project.

Cross Line & Dot Laser Levels

For interior installation and finishing work, Cross Line & Dot Laser Levels provide visible horizontal, vertical or point references.

These are commonly used for suspended ceilings, partitions, cabinetry, electrical work, tiling and other tasks where a clear reference needs to be projected directly onto walls, floors or ceilings.

Some models project a simple horizontal and vertical cross, while others provide multiple lines, dots or full-plane coverage. The most suitable option depends on the amount of reference coverage needed and the type of interior work being completed.

Red and green beam models are available within the range. Beam visibility can vary depending on lighting conditions, working distance and the individual instrument, so colour alone should not be the only factor considered when choosing a laser level.

Laser Receivers and Machine Receivers

Outdoor laser work often requires a receiver because the projected beam may be difficult to see over longer distances or in bright conditions.

Laser Level Receivers are used with compatible lasers to locate the reference beam and provide an indication of whether the receiver is above, below or on the required level.

For plant and machine-control applications, Machine Laser Receivers provide another option. These are designed for use with compatible construction machinery where the laser reference needs to be detected from the machine rather than by a handheld receiver.

Choosing the Right Laser Level

Before selecting a laser level, consider:

  • Indoor or outdoor use
  • Required working range
  • Horizontal, vertical or grade requirements
  • Type of work being carried out
  • Receiver compatibility
  • Red or green beam where available
  • Mounting requirements
  • Battery and charging options
  • Required accessories
  • Site conditions and frequency of use

A compact cross-line laser may be suitable for interior fitting and layout, while rotary and grade lasers are better suited to larger construction and groundworks applications. Pipe lasers should be considered where drainage or underground alignment is the main requirement.

Mounting and positioning equipment can also affect how practical a laser is to use on site. Our range includes Laser Level Poles, Mounts & Brackets, along with batteries, chargers, receivers and other laser accessories.
